The STL package of this model includes two “All-In-One” Print Profiles created for Bambu Lab. One is for H2 Series, and the other one is for X/P/A1 Series. If you don’t have these but any other printers from Bambu Lab, simply load the profile in Bambu Studio and change the printer setting to your printer. If you are new to 3D printing and never use a “All-In-One” Print Profile before, follow this instruction: How to use Bambu Studio’s All-In-One Print Profile
If you don’t have access to any Bambu Lab 3D printers. We recommend you to download Bambu Studio and load our Profile up so you can replicate the print settings that we use for each part of the model in your own slicer. Most parts of the model can be printed with a standard 0.4mm Nozzle. However, to achieve the optimum result for parts with small details, we strongly recommend using a 0.2mm (or 0.25mm) Nozzle
Please note: The STL for each part was saved in the recommended orientation to print on FDM printers. Hence, when you load the STL in your slicer software, you don’t need to orientate them again, unless you want to try to print them in a different orientation.
Below are some tips
-
There are two “All-In-One” Bambu Studio Profiles created for this model:
– STRONGBACK-S1 [MORETHAN3D – x Profile] – 0.4 Nozzle
This profile contains all parts that are recommended to print with a standard 0.4mm Nozzle– STRONGBACK-S1 [MORETHAN3D – x Profile] – 0.2 Nozzle
This profile contains all parts that are recommended to print with a 0.2mm NozzleIt is strongly recommended that you use the correct Nozzle size to print the parts to achieve the optimum result. You can print all parts with a 0.4mm Nozzle if you don’t have a 0.2mm, but some parts won’t look as good as they should
-
All magnet holes can be printed without support regardless of their positions/orientations on the model. Please don’t generate support for these holes (unless you really need to). Otherwise, you may struggle to remove support inside the holes due to restricted access.
-
This model is designed in such a way to allow you to assemble and disassemble the model into sub-assemblies, because almost every part is held together by magnets. However, if you prefer to glue everything, or some parts, together, that’s also fine – but please be aware that if you do, the model may not be as functional as the design intent, and it may be difficult to update the model later on.
If you decide to glue all parts (or some parts) together rather than using magnets, please print and use the Locating Pins for alignment.
-
There are several STL’s in folder ‘STEP 01
If you load these files in your slicer, you’ll see the fully assembled STRONGBACK-S1, and the main Sub-assemblies. This will help you understand where each and every part is fitted on the model. -
We highly recommend using “Support for PLA” for a number of selected parts for this model (see more details in the provided Print Profiles). This will ensure the best finish of the parts once support is removed.
-
In STEP 06 – Assemble the Strongback Tower – Part 1, the Tower Bottom Left Structure and Tower Bottom Right Structure has built-in custom support.
Please remove these support once the part is printed.
-
In STEP 08 – Assemble the Strongback Tower – Part 3, the Tower Claw has built-in custom support.
Please remove these support once the part is printed.
-
It is highly recommend that you purchase and use metal Dowel Pins (3mm Diameter x 20 mm Long) for this model. However, if you rather 3D print them instead, you can find the STL for these Dowel Pins in folder “STEP 99 – Optional Parts”
-
This model is designed at 1:96 scale, hence, it is recommend that you print at this scale to achieve the highest quality. However, if you decide to print the model at a smaller scale, please be aware that the magnets we selected for this model will no longer fit and you will have to find smaller magnets to fit, or glue the parts together.
How to assemble this model?
So now you’ve got all your parts printed? Great! Let’s assemble the model. I’ll take you through the assembly process step by step but before that, you need to purchase some items:
STEP 1: ‘Dry’ assemble the model
At this step, all I want you to do is try to stack all the parts together to get a good understanding of where they are located. Because there are a lot of magnets you need to fit during the assembly process, doing this first step will give you an idea of how to fit the magnets in each part correctly. Please use the files in STEP 01 folder, and the photos below if required.
STEP 2: Assemble the Lower Launch Platform - Part 1
