The STL package of this model includes two “All-In-One” Print Profiles created for Bambu Lab. One is for H2 Series, and the other one is for X/P/A1 Series. If you don’t have these but any other printers from Bambu Lab, simply load the profile in Bambu Studio and change the printer setting to your printer. If you are new to 3D printing and never use a “All-In-One” Print Profile before, follow this instruction: How to use Bambu Studio’s All-In-One Print Profile
If you don’t have access to any Bambu Lab 3D printers. We recommend you to download Bambu Studio and load our Profile up so you can replicate the print settings that we use for each part of the model in your own slicer. Most parts of the model can be printed with a standard 0.4mm Nozzle. However, to achieve the optimum result for parts with small details, we strongly recommend using a 0.2mm (or 0.25mm) Nozzle
Please note: The STL for each part was saved in the recommended orientation to print on FDM printers. Hence, when you load the STL in your slicer software, you don’t need to orientate them again, unless you want to try to print them in a different orientation.
Below are some tips
-
All magnet holes can be printed without support regardless of their positions/orientations on the model. Please don’t generate support for these holes (unless you really need to). Otherwise, you may struggle to remove support inside the holes due to restricted access.
-
This model is designed in such a way to allow you to assemble and disassemble the model into piece part level, because almost every part is held together by magnets. However, if you prefer to glue everything, or some parts, together, that’s also fine – but please be aware that if you do, it may be difficult to update the model later on.
If you decide to glue all parts (or some parts) together rather than using magnets, please print and use the Locating Pins for alignment.
-
For Pipe 2, we highly recommend using “Support for PLA” for this part. This will ensure the pipe sticks well to its custom support. If you don’t have this material, you can also try using PETG
-
This model is designed at 1:8 scale, hence, it is recommend that you print at this scale to achieve the highest quality. However, if you decide to print the model at a smaller scale, please be aware that the magnets we selected for this model will no longer fit and you will have to find smaller magnets to fit, or glue the parts together.
How to assemble this model?
So now you’ve got all your parts printed? Great! Let’s assemble the model. I’ll take you through the assembly process step by step but before that, you need to purchase some items:
STEP 1: Prepare the original R4PTOR-Mk3 (Shielded) model for upgrade
Remove the following parts from the R4PTOR-Mk3 (Shielded) model:
- Nozzle
- Valve Assembly Detail 2 (Back_Shielded)
- Fuel Feed Pipe 3
If you are converting from the original R4PTOR-Mk3, instead of the ‘Valve Assembly Detail 2 (Back_Shielded)‘, remove the ‘Valve Assembly Detail 10 (Back)‘ instead
STEP 2: Assemble the RVAC Nozzle
Parts required (refer to the photos below)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle (Bottom) 1st half (a)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle (Bottom) 2nd half (b)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle (Top) (c)
- 7x Locating Pin (f)
- 6x Magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) (highlighted in RED)
Assembly process
- STEP 2a: Glue two halves of the RVAC Nozzle (Bottom) together. Then glue 2x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into their locations on the side of the RVAC Nozzle (Bottom)
- STEP 2b: Glue 4x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into their locations on the side (x1), and top (x3) faces of the RVAC Nozzle (Top). Then insert 3x locating pins into the remaining holes on the top face of the RVAC Nozzle (Top)
- STEP 2c: Glue the RVAC Nozzle (Bottom) and RVAC Nozzle (Top) together. Use 4x locating pins for alignment
STEP 3: Assemble the Pipes
Parts required (refer to the photos below)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_1 (a)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_2 (b)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_3 (c)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_3 (Alt) (d)
- 3x Magnets (3mm dia x 2mm thick) (highlighted in RED)
- 7x Magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) (highlighted in RED)
Assembly process
- STEP 3a: Glue 2x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into their locations on the RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_1
- STEP 3b: Glue 2x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) and 1x magnet (3mm dia x 2mm thick) into their locations on the RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_2
- STEP 3c: Glue 2x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) and 1x magnet (3mm dia x 2mm thick) into their locations on the RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_3
- STEP 3d: Glue 1x magnet (5mm dia x 3mm thick) and 1x magnet (3mm dia x 2mm thick) into their locations on the RVAC Nozzle_Pipe_4
Please note: The 5mm dia x 3mm thick magnet protrudes about 1.5mm from the magnet hole
STEP 4: Assemble the R4PTOR-Mk3 RVAC
Parts required (refer to the photos below)
- 1x R4PTOR-Mk3 (Shielded) model from STEP 1 (a)
- 1x RVAC Nozzle from STEP 2 (b)
- 1x All Pipes from STEP 3 (c)
Assembly process
- STEP 4a: Install the RVAC Nozzle to the R4PTOR-Mk3 (Shielded) model
- STEP 4b: Install all 3 pipes (1, 2, and 3) to the R4PTOR-Mk3 (Shielded) model
Please note: If you are using the original unshielded R4PTOR-Mk3 model, instead of installing Pipe 3, use Pipe 3 (Alt) instead
And that’s it! Congratulations, you have completed your 1:8 R4PTOR-Mk3 RVAC model!
