How to Print & Assemble The JET-M2

How to print this model?

If you want to save this How-To instruction as a pdf file (and print it out later if needed), simply copy the URL of this page and paste it to https://www.printfriendly.com/ . Printfriendly will generate a printer-friendly pdf of the page with all the texts and images for you.

Most of the STL files are really straight forward to print. All you need to do is load them into your slicer software (I use Cura), select your desirable settings (e.g. layer height, infill percentage, etc.) and slice the parts. I used 0.4mm nozzle 0.2mm layer height to print all parts for this model

Here are some tips:

  • Nose Cone: If you have a dual-extruder 3D printer, you can print the Nose Cone and the Nose Cone Stripe at once. Simple load both parts in Cura, select both and right click, select “merge”. Now you can assign each nozzle for each part.

If you don’t have a dual-extruder 3D printer, you can simply print the Nose Cone in black and paint the slot (which was meant for the Nose Cone Stripe) in white.

How to assemble this model?

So now you’ve got all your parts printed? Great! Let’s assemble the model!

This model is super simple (yet impressive) to assemble. However, before we start, you’ll need to purchase some super glue and magnets to put this model together:

  • 5 mm dia x 3 mm thick N42 Neodymium magnets (LINK) | Qty: 14-off
  • 10 mm dia x 2 mm thick N42 Neodymium magnets (LINK) | Qty: 12-off
  • Deep Groove Ball Bearing: 17mm I.D, 35mm O.D, 10mm R.W (LINK) | Qty: 2-off
  • Super glue (LINK) | Qty: 1 bottle

STEP 1: Assemble the Fan Case

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Fan Case (a)
  • 2x Magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)
  • 1x Ball Bearing (c)

Assembly process:

  1. Press fit ball bearing to the front of the Fan Case (use super glue if needed)
  2. Glue 2x magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) into the pocket at the back of the Fan Case

STEP 2: Assemble the Fan

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Fan (a)
  • 7x Magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 7x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into the pockets at the front and rear of the Fan

STEP 3: Assemble the Fan Case Sub-Assembly

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Nose Cone (a)

  • 1x Fan from STEP 2 (c)
  • 1x Fan Shaft (Front) (d)
  • 1x Fan Case from STEP 1 (e)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 1x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into the pocket inside the Nose Cone
  2. Insert the Fan Shaft (Front) into the bearing
  3. Fit the Fan into the Fan Case
  4. Fit the Nose Cone in front of the Fan

STEP 4: Assemble the Intercase

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Fan Case (a)
  • 4x Magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 4x magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) into the pockets at the front and back of the Intercase

STEP 5: Assemble the HP-IP Turbine

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x HP-IP Turbine (a)
  • 4x Magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 4x magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) into the pockets at the front and back of the HP-IP Turbine

STEP 6: Assemble the LP Turbine

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x LP Turbine (a)
  • 2x Magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)
  • 1x Ball bearing (c)
  • 1x Fan Shaft (Rear) (d)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 2x magnets (10mm dia x 2mm thick) into the pocket at the front of the LP Turbine
  2. Press fit ball bearing to the rear of the LP Turbine (use super glue if needed)
  3. Insert the Fan Shaft (Rear) into the ball bearing

STEP 7: Assemble the Exhaust Nozzle

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Exhaust Nozzle (a)
  • 6x Magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) (highlighted in RED) (b)

Assembly process:

  1. Glue 6x magnets (5mm dia x 3mm thick) into the pockets at the of the Exhaust Nozzle

STEP 8: Assemble the Engine Core Sub-Assembly

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Intercase from STEP 4 (a)
  • 1x HP-IP Turbine from STEP 5 (b)
  • 1x LP Turbine from STEP 6 (c)
  • 1x Exhaust Nozzle from STEP 7 (d)

Assembly process:

  1. Stack all modules together

STEP 9: Assemble the Engine

What you need (refer to the photos below):

  • 1x Fan Case Sub-Assembly from STEP 3 (a)
